Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads All my memories gather round her Miner's lady, stranger to blue water Dark and dusty, painted on the sky Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads I hear her voice, in the morning hour she calls me The radio reminds me of my home far away And driving down the road I get a feeling That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads Take me home, down country roads Take me home, down country roads Songwriters: Bill Danoff / John Denver / Taffy Nivert Danoff

When I was a little bitty boy just up off the floor
We used to go down to grandma's house every month end or so We'd have chicken pie, country ham Homemade butter on the bread But the best thing about grandma's house Was the great big feather bed It was nine feet high and six feet wide And soft as a downy chick It was made from the feathers of forty 'leven geese Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick It could hold eight kids and four hound dogs And a piggy we stole from the shed We didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun On grandma's feather bed After supper we'd sit around the fire, the old folks'd bit the shoe Pa would talk about the farm and the war And granny'd sing a ballad or two And I'd sit and listen and watch the fire till the cobwebs filled my head Next thing I'd know I'd wake up in the morning In the middle of the old feather bed It was nine feet high and six feet wide And soft as a downy chick It was made from the feathers of forty 'leven geese Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick It could hold eight kids and four hound dogs And a piggy we stole from the shed We didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun On grandma's feather bed Well, I love my ma and I love my pa, I love granny and grandpa too I've been fishin' with my uncles, I wrestled my cousin I even kissed Aunt Lou, ew! But if I ever had to make a choice I guess it oughta be said That I'd trade them all plus the gal down the road For grandma's feather bed I'd trade them all plus the gal down the road It was nine feet high and six feet wide And soft as a downy chick It was made from the feathers of forty 'leven geese Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick It could hold eight kids and four hound dogs And a piggy we stole from the shed We didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun On grandma's feather bed We didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun On grandma's feather bed [Intro]
Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo) Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right [Verse 1] Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right [Verse 2] Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right [Bridge] Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes Sun, sun, sun, here it comes [Verse 3] Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun Here comes the sun, and I say It's all right [Outro] Here comes the sun Here comes the sun It's all right It's all right Two of us riding nowhere
Spending someone's Hard earned pay Two of us Sunday driving Not arriving On our way back home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're going home Two of us sending postcards Writing letters On my wall You and me burning matches Lifting latches On our way back home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're going home You and I have memories Longer than the road that stretches out ahead Two of us wearing raincoats Standing so low In the sun You and me chasing paper Getting nowhere On our way back home We're on our way home We're on our way home We're going home I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade He'd let us in, knows where we've been In his octopus' garden in the shade I'd ask my friends to come and see An octopus' garden with me I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus' garden in the shade. We would be warm below the storm In our little hideaway beneath the waves Resting our head on the sea bed In an octopus' garden near a cave We would sing and dance around Because we know we can't be found I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus' garden in the shade We would shout and swim about The coral that lies beneath the waves (Lies beneath the ocean waves) Oh what joy for every girl and boy Knowing they're happy and they're safe (Happy and they're safe) We would be so happy you and me No one there to tell us what to do I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus' garden with you. Doc Watson Let it rain, let it pour, let it rain a whole lot more 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let the rain drive right on, let the waves sweep along 'Cause I got them deep river blues My old gal's a good old pal, and she looks like a water fowl When I get them deep river blues Ain't no one to cry for me, and the fish all go out on a spree When I get them deep river blues Give me back my old boat, I'm gonna sail if she'll float 'Cause I got them deep river blues I'm goin' back to Muscle Shoals, times are better there I'm told 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let it rain, let it pour, let it rain a whole lot more 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let the rain drive right on, let the waves sweep along 'Cause I got them deep river blues If my boat sinks with me, I'll go down, don't you see 'Cause I got them deep river blues Now I'm gonna say goodbye, and if I sink, just let me die 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let it rain, let it pour, let it rain a whole lot more 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let the rain drive right on, let the waves sweep along 'Cause I got them deep river blues |
