3rd Grade Recorder

Strategies for Practicing Songs
Step 1: Sing the song with the original words. If you can sing it, you can play it.
Step 2: Sing the song with note names (B A G)
Step 3: Sing the song with note names AND finger the notes on the recorder
Step 4: Sing the song with note names in your head AND finger the notes
Step 5: Play the song on your recorder.

*We will be learning how to play the following nine songs by ear before we learn how to read rhythms and notes on the staff.

Learn this rhyme.  It will help you remember the correct way to hold the recorder.

The recorder in your right hand
Is where we will begin
Be sure to hold the bottom
Then move it to your chin

With your left hand give a thumbs up
On the back hole it must go
Add one for B, add two for A
Add three for G you know!

Remember leaks equal squeaks!
There should be circles on your left hand fingertips after you play the recorder.
